Dowlais RFC

Dowlais Rugby Football Club was formed in 1974, and for a number of years was based at various public houses within the local community.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of its founder committee members and players, the club eventually found its own home in September 1983. Funding from Bass Wales secured a new Dowlais Rugby clubhouse at Blaen Dowlais, Dowlais Top.

The club badge proudly displays one of the most famous landmarks of its community's proud history 'The Dowlais Coal Arch' with its Welsh dragon standing between two coal pillars, and the club's motto 'Chwarae Teg, Teg Chwarae', embroidered on its scroll.

The club's main ethos is to develop its players and members into something they can be proud of, both on and off the pitch. Our governing body, the Welsh Rugby Union, has recognised the club's community sprit and how Dowlais RFC always provide for the people involved in its development. Dowlais RFC offer everyone, particularly the young players, a fantastic start with the ever-improving facilities that we provide.

This is only achieved through the support of individuals and businesses and none more than First4rentals. Their help is very much appreciated: without this support a community-based side such as Dowlais RFC would never be able to survive.

Dowlais RFC would like to thank all those at 'First4rentals/ First4houses' for their support. We hope the team can enjoy many more successful seasons together.
